Setup guide

Get started in four steps. No coding required.

1

Get your API key and Brand ID

In your Rankscale dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations and generate a Rankscale API key. Copy the key and the Brand ID you want to report on.

2

Open the Rankscale connector

Until gallery publication finishes, open the connector from the Rankscale help links or direct Looker Studio deployment links (not the partner gallery). Choose Dashboard Metrics or Search Term Executions.

3

Authorize with your API key

Looker Studio prompts for native API-key authorization. Paste your Rankscale API key there. Then enter your Brand ID and choose data type, time frame, aggregation, and filters. Existing data sources may need reauthorization after the KEY rollout. Re-authorizing replaces the one key stored for that effective user, so existing reports using those credentials switch to the new key.

4

Build your dashboard

Drag and drop charts, tables, and scorecards using your Rankscale data. Apply Looker Studio filters, calculated fields, and branded themes. You can also copy a Rankscale report template from the help links.

Tips for great dashboards

  • Use the Dashboard Metrics connector for time-series charts and KPI scorecards
  • Use the Search Term Executions connector for detailed tables and drill-down analysis
  • Apply Data Studio calculated fields to create custom KPIs and ratios
  • Filter by brand, topic, or AI engine for focused analysis
  • Use date range controls to let viewers explore different time periods

Frequently asked questions

What data can I visualize?

Brand-level metrics (visibility, sentiment, citations, mentions, positions), topic and engine breakdowns, and detailed per-execution records including AI responses and competitor rankings.

What happens if I authorize a different Rankscale account?

Each connector stores one Rankscale API key per effective Looker user. Re-authorizing replaces that key, and existing data sources that use this user's credentials then report with the new account. With Owner's credentials the effective user is the data source owner, so viewers of the report do not store their own key. With Viewer's credentials, the person viewing the report is the effective user. Reset authorization only when you intend to switch keys.

Which plans include the Data Studio integration?

The Data Studio connector is available on Pro, Growth, and Enterprise plans. Generate your API key from Settings → Integrations in your Rankscale dashboard.

Do I need coding skills?

No. Authorize with your Rankscale API key, enter your Brand ID, then drag and drop charts and tables in Looker Studio.

What AI engines are supported?

All engines monitored by Rankscale - ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overview, Gemini, Grok, Bing Copilot, Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral, and more.

How often does the data refresh?

Data refreshes according to Looker Studio's own caching and refresh controls. The published Rankscale connectors do not add an Apps Script response cache for authenticated reporting requests.

Where do I find the connectors before gallery approval?

Use the direct connector and report-template links from Rankscale Settings → Integrations or the in-app Looker Studio help. Gallery search may not list Rankscale until Partner review completes.

Can I use both connectors in one report?

Yes. Add multiple data sources to a single Looker Studio report - use Dashboard Metrics for time-series charts and Search Term Executions for detailed tables.
